Red Raiders showing some school spirit! The Texas Tech HFES Student Chapter once again received the Gold Status award for Outstanding Student Chapter from HFES National. This marks the 7th consecutive year that our chapter has earned this honor. Congratulations to all members involved in achieving this award! Additionally, Liz Schmidlin was awarded Student Member with Honors from HFES National. Way to go Liz!
At the conference, our members interviewed, hosted panels, and presented posters at the conference. Congratulations to Brittany Neilson for leading her panel entitled, "A Student Perspective of Career Options in Human Factors". Also, congratulations to Michael Crites for presenting his poster entitled, "Learning to Tie Well With Others: Bimanual vs. Intermanual Coordination During Shoe-Tying". These current students are great examples of the ambition and excellence we strive for in our program.
Our Alumni also represented Texas Tech well by participating and leading several panels. Arathi Sethumadhavan led a panel entitled, "Human Factors in Everyday Life", while Paul Derby participated in Brittany Neilson's panel. Paul also presented a research in a session, with his presentation entitled, "Self-Regulated Learning in Virtual Simulations". "Finally, Chris Sader and Tim Ballew both participated in a panel entitled, "Agile and User Experience: The Road to Integration-The Challenges of User Research in an Agile Environment", which was well received within the UX community.
