Chapter members Emily Maw and Nicholas Garcia took a break from final exams to volunteer for Lubbock Habitat for Humanity. Through their home ownership program, Lubbock Habitat for Humanity offers simple, decent, and affordable homes to families and individuals. Their goal is to empower families and individuals to build a new life through the stability and security that a new home offers. Both Nick and Emily are second year doctoral students in the Texas Tech Human Factors Psychology program. They hope to keep volunteering for Habitat for Humanity in the near future.

Our chapter members recently volunteered at the Haven ACS Lubbock. Founded by Dr. Brenda and Joe Wilbanks, the Haven is a non-profit sanctuary that shelters a variety of animals, including adoptable dogs and cats who are in need of good and loving homes. For over 40 years, the Haven has continued to speak for animals that cannot speak for themselves!
HFES TTU wants to give a special thanks to Dr. Wilbanks, the Haven staff and all of the volunteers for letting us help out at the Shelter. Be sure to check out the Haven's website for more information on this great organization. |
